We are pleased to announce the Short Mat Players Tour will be changing our home venue from Bromsgrove Indoor Bowls Club to the Falcon Indoor Bowling Club for the start of the 2017-18 season.
Situated near Chelmsford in Essex, Falcon IBC is a larger 8 rink venue which boasts excellent facilities and transport links. SMPT Director Phil Mills explained, “The move is necessary for us to accommodate the ever increasing demand from players who want to compete in our events. We are excited to have the opportunity to work with another well-established and respected venue as we embark on the next phase of our development. With Stansted airport on the doorstep and London just an hour away we believe Falcon is ideal for attracting more participants from overseas. Located close to the M25 and M1 motorways, our events will be even more accessible to the players in the east and north of the country who have yet to experience the Short Mat Players Tour.”
Chairman of the Falcon Indoor Bowling Club, Don Taylor enthused, “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the new venue for the SMPT’s international short mat bowls events in England. This will enhance our centre of excellence here in Chelmsford and is another opportunity to develop bowls within the local community. We look forward very much to working with the Short Mat Players Tour.”
Bromsgrove IBC has been our home for the last three years and the decision to leave was not an easy one. The club has made us feel very welcome and so many people have contributed to making the Short Mat Players Tour such a success. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Bromsgrove Indoor Bowls Club (particularly Tom, Arthur and Steve), the directors, the members and of course Sharon and her team at Butler’s Café. We are happy that this excellent partnership will continue until the end of the 2016-17 season.
