Update for players & spectators for the World Masters regarding the Coronavirus outbreak

The SMPT are closely monitoring the outbreak of coronavirus and any impact this might have on the running of the Belfast Open & World Masters in Belfast on 17-19th of April.

At this moment we are still fully committed to hosting the events, however the health and safety of the players and our team is paramount. We will be monitoring the situation as we lead up to the events and are in regular communication with the club. Further, regular updates will be given as we move forward.

We will be following guidance from the Department of Health in Northern Ireland and Public Health England as well as any guidance from the Governments in the UK as the situation develops.

Both the Department of Health and Public Health England are currently encouraging people to maintain good hygiene to avoid possible infection or spreading of the virus which includes:

  • washing your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always washing your hands when you get home or into work
  • using hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • putting used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • trying to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Not touching your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

This guidance will be continually assessed and monitored and further updates will be issued when appropriate. You can also visit the NHS website for the latest NHS updates.

If you have any concerns regarding this situation then please do not hesitate to contact us at info@shortmatplayerstour.com
