I start to participate the tour from the very first beginning. I always look forward to meet all competitors and the crew. What I like most is that the tour hold a very high standard and I think the continuing improvement of SMPT are great. I look forward to many more high quality games.
The SMPT and their events are second to none. The team are very welcoming and are forever promoting this beautiful game to new countries therfore getting people of all ages from 7 to 70 and of all disabilities from being partially blind to being in a wheelchair. Thier events cater for all the above. The weekends away are a great opportunity to meet new people, new friendships and the odd bowls rivalry (all fun off course). You get to see new countries such as Norway, Sweden, Belgium and Cyprus.
If I was to rate the smpt I would give it a 10/10 as it ticks all boxes:
Game for all ages ✔
Game for all disabilities ✔
Friendly and competitive ✔
New experiences ✔
New memories ✔
The list can go on
Now that I’m back home and back to normality after a busy long weekend, I would just like to thank everyone for their messages, texts etc. It was a very enjoyable weekend, another highly efficient run tournament as you come to expect at an SMPT event, great venue and excellent hospitality from our Norwegian hosts. Bowling aside it was great to catch up with so many friends again and to make some new ones, special mention to the Irish supporters, loud and supportive throughout.
The SMPT has created a community of bowlers from numerous countries. Their competitions are very well organised and the communication is second to none; before, during and after any event. They can be trusted to provide many of the best players in the sport, at great venues and there’s always a warm and genuine welcome. SMPT events should be tried by all short mat bowlers because they provide some great experiences, testing your skills against a terrific range of players and encountering some very friendly people from around the world.
I will thank the SMPT for doing it possible for me to play in the tour. It has been a special experience that i never thought of in the beginning. I have evolved both in my bowls technique and in my English. I have met many different and nice people from many different countries. I have also visited many countries and many cities for myself. And I think that the SMPT is a good tour for both beginners and professional players.
The SMPT events are by far the best I have ever played in! Anyone can participate; from all ages, nationalities, gender etc. The tournaments are efficiently run by great people who do a fantastic job in promoting short mat. What I love most is not only getting to play against the best players in the world to help improve my game, but the amount of friendships I have made.
I have been working closely with the Short Mat Players Tour for the past 3 years in my post at Crowne Plaza as Sports Coordinator.
As the SMPT’s Official Accommodation Partners our relationship with Phil and the SMPT team enables the players who attend their events throughout the season to book rooms at special rates.
With their promotion the sport is growing constantly and I am looking forward to working with the SMPT in the future.
Just a line of thanks and admiration for the way in which you all handled the weekend in Belfast.
The whole event was most enjoyable, and your organisation ran the whole thing like clockwork keeping needless waiting time to a minimum.
I now have the task of trying to convince some of my club members to enter future events along with me.
My first experience of SMPT was better than I could have hoped.
Thanks again for making my trip so enjoyable.
As a relatively inexperienced bowler, the SMPT has been an invaluable experience in terms of my development, both on and off the mat. The chance to rub shoulders with some of the greatest short mat bowlers on the planet is something I never imagined I would achieve, but the SMPT makes that possible, several times a year. However, even more importantly, the friendships I have forged and the advice and guidance I have received from fellow members of the Tour has helped my game immeasurably. I would encourage any short mat bowler out there to attend their events, even in a spectator capacity, because the experience is priceless. Furthermore, thanks to the forward thinking attitude of the SMPT and their use of social media platforms, the sport I love is now made accessible to just about anybody, with live matches regularly broadcast, which can only be healthy for the future of short mat bowling.
