Following the huge success of the 2013 World Masters, the forthcoming 2014 event was scheduled to run over an extra day from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th April, to cater for the expected increase in entries.
After considering the significant amount of feedback received from players who are unable or unwilling to play on a Friday, we have decided that the 2014 World Masters will now be run over two days only from Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th April. We will still be able to accommodate a higher number of entries than last year, but through the use of additional mats rather than extending the competition to a third day.
With over 130 entries already confirmed and with over 7 weeks remaining until the extended close of entries on Saturday 8th March, we hope that shortening the event to just two consecutive days on the weekend will allow many more players to enter. The change will mean that all players will play 4 of their 5 group games on the Saturday with their final group game and the knockout rounds being played on the Sunday (as last year).
All players who enter the World Masters will be able to enter an additional but separate ‘Two Bowl Singles Knockout Competition’ on Friday 11th April. This will be played over 21 ends and will also include a ‘Plate Competition’. Any World Masters entrants who choose not to play in the additional Friday competition will still be able to come along and have a roll-up later in the day. Full details of the ‘Two Bowl’ competition and roll-up times will be published on our website soon.
We believe that this solution is in the best interest of all our supporters and will allow us to make this year’s World Masters even better!
To book your place please go to our website where you can enter and pay online or alternatively you can download an entry form and send it with your cheque in the post. Remember all entries, including payment, must be received by 8 March.
Please share this update with your fellow bowlers.
