We are delighted to announce the dates for the first six events of the 2019/20 season. The remainder of the events in the second half of the 2019/20 season will be confirmed and announced as soon as possible in the New Year.

In case you missed this game on Sunday, we are proud to present the recording of our live coverage from the 2018 Norwegian Open Cup Final, between James Trott (England) and Benny Sjögren (Sweden).

In a tense game, Sweden's Benny Sjogren wins the SMPT Norwegian Open 2018. Benny dominated the game from the start however England's James Trott came back to go in to the final end 8-10 down. Benny bowled a great bowl to take the title 12-8.
Stephen Proctor beat Mitchell Young to win the Plate and Pontus Guldestam wins the Shield Final beating Gunnar Frantzen 10-5.

The draw for the third world ranking event of the 2018-19 season has produced some tough groups and with it, many intriguing matches. What is more, the magnificent hall at Skien Fritidspark provides a superb setting for the SMPT's Show Mat, allowing players and spectators to witness games of special interest, which feature some of the sport’s top names who are competing at this year’s Norwegian Open.

The draw for the third singles ranking event of the season, the Norwegian Open, held at Skien Fritidspark has now been made.

Entries to the inaugural European Open Pairs are now open! The European Open is a brand new competition which will form the second of three pairs ranking events in the 2018-19 season.

So that is it for another Irish Open. Congratulations to Raymond Stubbs who claims his first ever SMPT title. Ian Hobson has to settle for silver again after his performance last April at the World Masters.

The draw for the second world ranking event of the 2018-19 season has produced some exciting matches. What is more, Belfast Indoor Bowling Club provides a fantastic setting for the SMPT͛s Show Mat, enabling players and spectators alike to witness games of special interest, featuring some of the sport’s top names in action at this year’s Irish Open.


17 year-old Alex Kley takes the UK Open 2018 title after beating Jonathan Payne 11-9 in the final after ditching the jack on his first bowl on the last end.
Aled Edwards takes the Bronze medal after beating Sean Quinn 12-11.

Ireland beat England 5.5 - 0.5 in the final to retain the title for another year.

Next weekend sees the start of the 2018-19 SMPT season, and our first ranking event, the UK Open.

This season the Short Mat Players Tour is pleased to be supporting four charities.

The draws for the 2018 Bowls Trader World Cup and UK Open have now been made.

As usual, we kick-off proceedings with the Bowls Trader World Cup followed by the first singles ranking event of the season, the UK Open. With 10 qualifying teams, the 4th running of the SMPT Bowls Trader World Cup will include the biggest field to date, while the UK Open will see 192 entrants, the 7th running of the competition will also see the its biggest field yet!

The 2017-18 season has finished, the players have cast their votes and now, with great pleasure, we can reveal that the winner of the SMPT Players’ Player of the Season is…

Following an unprecedented build-up to the new SMPT season, it is now time for the opening of entries to the second running of the Verdemat Bowls British Open. Will our York showcase make it a fourth successive singles world ranking event sell-out in 2018-19?
